Men's Suspenders Customer Provided Silk, Synthetic or Slippery Fabric for Braces

You can read more about providing your own fabric for me to work with to make bow ties, suspenders, neckties or pocket squares here.

For a solid color or print that doesn't have a right-side-up or up-side-down to it, I will need 1/4 yard of fabric that is 40-45" wide (this is the width of most commercially produced fabrics) to make one pair of suspenders. If the fabric has something on it that needs to be right-side-up (for instance, trees, or the alphabet) on the suspenders, then I need 1.25 yards of fabric.

I don't work with super lightweight fabrics like chiffon or other fabrics that you can see through. I also don't work with sequined, velvet, or beaded fabric. If you have questions about your fabric, please call or email me.

If you haven't yet ordered the fabric but found some online that you think you'd like to use, you can send me a link to that fabric (Lisa@bowtie.com), and I will let you know if I think it will work as a pair of suspenders.

If you haven't already sent the fabric, please mail it (or have it mailed if you are ordering it and don't need them to ship it to you so you can see it before it becomes a tie) to my home address:

•If you are in the US and in an extra hurry for me to make your order, you can choose the RUSH Priority Mail Express S&H option. If you choose this option, I will make your order within 24-48 hours (excluding weekends and holidays), and ship using Priority Mail Express which is 1-2 day delivery guaranteed within the United States.

•The site won’t allow you to place an order for custom length suspenders until I have been in contact with you. Once you and I have emailed or spoken, we’ll figure how best to accommodate your strap length needs. Then, to place your order online, you’ll choose ‘standard’ length, and write me a note regarding the specific strap needs we will have discussed in the comment section when you check out.

Features of Suspenders/Braces:

•1 ½ inch wide straps of chosen fashion fabric. The straps are NOT elastic

•Each strap is stabilized with interfacing to give the strap body

•Leather paddles which button into your waistband OR heavy duty clips

•Brass plated hardware (adjusting ratchet and D ring) on the button in style, nickel plated hardware (clips, and ratchets) on the clip style

•Center back Y joint is reinforced with leather, and a leather 'fold over' houses the paddles or the clips.

•7” heavy duty 1 ½” wide black OR white elastic in back. I can make the elastic longer or shorter if that is your preference. You just have to let me know.

•Mix or match braces fabric with bow ties

•If you see a bow tie on my site whose fabric you would like made into braces but can’t find the matching pair on the site, please contact me

•My leather components and hardware components are made in New England

•Each pair of braces is handmade to order by me in Kennebunk, Maine
