100% Habotai silk scarf is whisper light, soft, and comfortable to wear. It comes in two sizes, roughly 35"x 42", and 42"x50". In the pics Lisa is modeling the 42"x 50" scarf. Both sizes will compliment an outfit nicely. The design is strong on both sides, though there is a definite 'right' side to the scarf.
•Not sure how to wear a scarf? Neither was I. I found this video very helpful.
Scarf Origin Story
In 1980 the State University of New York at Oneonta’s housing computer placed me in a dorm room with a woman who quickly became a good friend. That friendship has grown richer and richer over the decades; she is my dearest friend. She makes the world a better place and me a better person. She lives still in New York State, and I live in Maine; but we make lots of time to see one another. One of our recent times together was to take a weekend workshop called 'Indigo Rice Resist' at Snow Farm, the New England Center for Craft. Chinatsu Nagamune of Codo and her husband, Andy, were the instructors. My dear friend and I had an amazing weekend—the food alone at Snow Farm is something to crow about, and on top of that, this workshop was particularly fulfilling in a creative sense. Chinatsu and Andy taught us how to make stencils using special materials and then use a rice paste—which reminds me of peanut butter—to resist taking on the indigo color. Chiantsu generously leant students the use of some of her stencils which were gorgeous in themselves. My friend does not sew, but I know someone who does! I went home with the all pieces we had stenciled and dyed and made a quilt like none I’d ever made before, using instinct instead of a pattern. This quilt represents the fifth decade of our meaningful friendship.
•I will be donating 10% of the profits from every Fifth Decade scarf to The League of Women Voters (LWV), a nonpartisan group whose mission is to empower voters and defend democracy. The LWV works to ensure that our elections are free, fair, and accessible, protect our environment, and reduce the influence of money in our elections. I'm a former teacher, the daughter of a long time history teacher, and a huge fan of Democracy.
•To reduce waste, I have each scarf printed to order. I will have it in the mail to you about a week after I receive your order.
